Portable Leaf State Analyzer LSA-2050 (Heinz Walz GmbH, Germany)
The LSA-2050 Leaf State Analyzer by Heinz Walz GmbH (Germany) is a next-generation handheld optical instrument for in-field assessment of plant physiological status. It combines four diagnostic modes in a single measurement:
1️⃣ UV and visible radiation screening,
2️⃣ chlorophyll content measurement,
3️⃣ maximum quantum yield of photosystem II (FV/FM),
4️⃣ nitrogen balance index (NBI).
The LSA-2050 uses LEDs at 310, 365, 450, 530, 630, 715 and 770 nm to quantify radiation screening by flavonoids and anthocyanins, chlorophyll absorbance, and photochemical efficiency. Integrated GPS and orientation sensors record geolocation, leaf azimuth, and solar angle for accurate field mapping.
The device stores over 30 000 data sets in its 8 MB memory and exports fully formatted Excel reports via USB-C. The accompanying LSA Software automatically plots FV/FM, AFLAV, AANTH and NBI values for statistical analysis.
Compact and lightweight (26.5 × 7 × 3.5 cm, 240 g), the LSA-2050 is powered by four AAA rechargeable batteries or USB connection and operates from –5 to +45 °C. It is the perfect choice for research in plant physiology, crop monitoring and environmental studies.
